A computer does not the man maketh

One of the main problems of the constantly evolving state of technology is that we as consumers seem to think that we just have to have it. Everything needs to be box fresh and have the latest shiny moving parts because, well, they are simply miles better and more efficient than anything else that we already have. Well, not really. But the adverts wouldn’t tell us anything else would they?
One of the main purveyors of this problem is that overwhelming amount of new laptops, computers and touch screen psychic mind melting pads we have on the market. Each one telling us that they are faster, stronger and tougher than the rest. To the point that when we begin to notice on our laptops that the internet is perhaps taking a little longer to load these days, we are quick to run out and buy a new laptop. Upgrading, out with the old and in with the new. Always the technologies fault and nothing else. One thing that we never question is our internet providers, but it only takes a few seconds of broadband comparison to find out that things aren’t always as they seem and often, a simple change of provider for a cheaper (yes that’s right, cheaper) and faster service might be just what you need. Look at the bigger picture before you start upgrading this year.
